Children Eating 90 Grams Daily Grow Faster
Chicken meat, which is less fatty compared to other animal products, provides health benefits as well as taste when included regularly in the nutrition plan. White meat, which is an important tool for healthy nutrition, is of great importance especially in child nutrition.
Dietitian Sezen Cetinkaya explained that inadequate and unbalanced nutrition prepares the ground for the development of many chronic diseases such as obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and diabetes.
Important Protein Source for Children
"Especially risk groups such as children and pregnant women need to consume adequate amounts of protein, vegetables and fruits, legumes, whole grain products, milk and dairy products, and white meat daily.
Chicken meat, which has an important place in healthy nutrition, is the primary protein source that should be consumed. Compared to other animal meats, it is less fatty and therefore provides low calories, is a good quality protein source, and contains less fat and saturated fat."
Rich in Vitamins
Dietitian Cetinkaya noted that chicken is among the foods rich in vitamin B2 (riboflavin), niacin, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12: "It can be safely used in cardiovascular diseases, Type 2 diabetes, and sodium-restricted diets. Since chicken meat is low in cholesterol but rich in unsaturated fatty acids, it is indispensable for dieters. 100 grams of skinless chicken contains only 124 calories. However, when consumed with skin, it can go up to 170 calories. It is recommended to be consumed grilled, baked, or boiled."
Children's Nutrition
Poultry meat, especially fish, is richer in Omega 3 and its consumption should be increased especially in children at developmental age.
"Chicken meat, in addition to being rich in vitamins such as B2, B6, B12 and amino acids, also contains iron, zinc, and phosphorus that children need. Proteins, which have an important place in child nutrition, also affect the physical and mental development of children. Stunting commonly seen in our country is a chronic nutritional deficiency. The quality protein requirement of growing tissues must largely be met from animal sources after breast milk. With adequate and balanced proteins, this problem can be prevented. An average consumption of 60-90 grams of white meat per day is recommended for children."
